New website launch for music:LX
Luxembourg's music export office, music:LX, has been “backstage” so to speak, since 2009 helping to support musicians with advice and funding for concerts and promotion outside the Grand Duchy's borders.
Tuesday however was the big day music:LX launched their new website. At a press conference held at Exit07 in Hollerich, in front of a large crowd of artists and journalists, the music:LX team together with culture minister Octavie Modert proudly displayed and presented the new site.
The opportunity was also seized to explain just what the organisation has been up to for the past three years. The success of music: LX has been measured by the number of concerts and festivals played abroad by musicians from Luxembourg. The export office boasts that this figure has increased dramatically, rising from 40 in 2009 to 470 in 2011.
Luxembourg music seems to be catching on internationally, as several acts have been snapped up for other projects. Sun Glitters was booked for “Transmusicales de Rennes” after playing at the Eurosonic festival last Friday.
As for INBORN! who now celebrate 10 years as a band, have signed with the German independent label Snowhite and found a German tour manager. The band, as well as others such Hal Flavin and Mutiny on the Bounty have drawn the attention of French concert bookers.
The good news keeps coming! Claudine Muno will represent Luxembourg at the “Spot Festival” in Denmark and will play Trafalgar Square in London March 17 in front of massive crowds.
One of the good aspects for bands is the ability to apply for help and funding by downloading information and application forms as well as the possibility of setting up their own band profile directly on the site. Artist news, venues and festival information is also in abundance.
“We want to say a big thank you to music:LX for their support in 2011. Even in difficult situations we could count on the support from music:LX,” stated Claudine Muno & The Luna Boots. “The Luxembourg Export Office is a correct and important step for the national music scene,” was the praise Eternal Tango had for music:LX.
