February 20, 2012 - Luxembourg’s satellite operator, SES, has reported a 2011 turnover of €1.73 billion and a 27% increase in profits to €618 million.

While revenue dipped only slightly below that of 2010, its increased profitability was explained on lower tax expenses and a one-off expense accounted for in 2010.

Romain Bausch, President and CEO of SES S.A., commented on the financial results and explained “in a busy second half (of last year), SES successfully launched four satellites. Seven further satellites are being built and are due to be launched before the end of 2014. The majority of the new capacity will be serving customers in emerging markets. We look to the future with confidence”.
